How an Issue Is Made
A script and model calls produce every issue; no editor writes or rewrites an item.
What an Item Is
An item is one primary document: an organization's own statement on its own website, a federal court docket, a Form 990 tax return from the IRS e-file release, or the text of a Friday sermon as the publishing body issued it. Each item shows the document's own title, issuer and date, links to it, quotes it verbatim, and carries a short neutral paragraph labelled Summary. A dispatch is every item of one month in one cell of the grid (one country, one institution type). An issue holds up to ten dispatches, ordered by the number of documents; cells beyond ten appear as one line each under Further Documents. A thin month carries fewer dispatches; nothing is added to fill it.
Which Organizations
The organizations are those in MEF's Islamist Watch claims collection and its CAIR entity list, in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Germany, France, Belgium and other Western states. Each is described on this site only in its own words (a phrase found verbatim in its own document) or by a court or government finding. MEF's own characterizations stay in MEF's published Islamist Watch articles, which each dispatch links.
The Model Steps
- Write (gpt-5-mini): decides whether the document shows the organization acting toward a named Western institution, assigns country and institution type, drafts the headline and Summary, and copies one or two passages.
- Entail (Claude Haiku 4.5, a second vendor): reads the document and every headline and Summary sentence; any sentence not supported, or any label the document does not use, holds the item.
- Quote check (code): every quoted passage must appear character for character in the stored document text.
- Translation (German sermons): the English rendering sits beside the original; a second model translates it back into German and an embedding model (text-embedding-3-small) scores the round trip. Below a cosine of 0.86 the item is held.
- Link check: every document URL is requested before publication; a dead link holds the item.
Held items are listed with the reason on the staff desk and never appear here. Rerunning the build on the same month's documents produces the same issue: dispatch order, item order and headlines are fixed by the stored model output.

Limits
The site reflects what organizations publish and what courts and the IRS release; it is not a complete account of any organization's activity. A Summary is machine-written and checked by a second machine; the document itself governs. Data as of October 20, 2026.
